About Be Well Together Counseling

Our Story

In 2017, two passionate and dedicated therapists, Erin Harvey and Amy Garcia, met at a small group mental health practice. Though their paths had been different, their shared values and commitment to healing brought them together in a meaningful way. As they worked side by side, they found themselves not only supporting their clients but also supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. They shared stories, offered advice, and healed old wounds together.

As they exchanged stories of their personal journeys and professional experiences, they began to realize how much they both wanted to create something more—something that went beyond just therapy. Both women had experienced firsthand the challenges mental health can bring to an individual. They knew the strain stages of life could put on families, and they also understood the importance of nurturing one's emotional, physical, and spiritual health during these critical times.

They envisioned creating a space that would embrace their holistic approach to wellness. The name, Be Well Together, felt like a natural fit. It reflected their belief that true wellness doesn't happen in isolation, but in connection—with each other, the body, the mind, and the spirit. Their shared commitment was to create a warm, welcoming space where clients could feel heard, supported, and empowered to navigate life's challenges.

Professional Background

With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, I provide compassionate counseling services in North Carolina. My extensive background allows me to address a wide range of behavioral health challenges, including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, life transitions, family dynamics, grief/loss, trauma, ADHD, disordered eating, poor body image, body acceptance, and interpersonal struggles.

My Clinical Approach

My clinical approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), though I draw from various therapeutic modalities to meet each client's unique needs. CBT focuses on the powerful connection between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, helping clients develop practical strategies for managing life's challenges and regulating difficult emotions.

Beyond the Office

When I'm not wearing my therapist "hat," I embrace life's many roles and adventures. As a wife and mother of two, I understand the complex dynamics of family life; as well as the challenges different life stages may bring.

My love for play and adventure manifests in various ways – from solving puzzles and baking to being out in nature. I enjoy running and working out and strongly believe in all the benefits movement has on the mind and body. As someone who personally relates to the anxious mind, I bring both professional expertise and authentic understanding to my work with clients navigating similar experiences.

I'm currently accepting new clients and supervision candidates. Contact me to begin your journey toward growth and healing.

A Note to Those Who Paused Their Scrolling...

Looking for a therapist can be overwhelming and intimidating. Often, it's not the first step we take when facing life's challenges—sometimes it's the last. Why? Because therapy means opening up, being vulnerable, and unpacking emotional wounds. It means facing trauma and working through complex, deeply rooted issues. I understand this, and I want you to know: I have patience, and I'm here to walk this path with you.

In my practice, I create a safe haven where healing can unfold naturally. Together, we'll work at your pace toward a common goal: your wellness and peace of mind.

Professional Background

With nearly 23 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, my journey began in western Pennsylvania and has led me through diverse therapeutic settings. I've worked in outpatient clinics, provided wraparound services, served as a mobile therapist, and consulted within school systems. This varied experience has equipped me to support individuals and families from all walks of life.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work hard to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for my clients. My office is designed to feel like your living room—a space where you can bring your coffee or tea, discuss challenges, share laughter, and focus on healing. Here, we'll work together using proven therapeutic techniques, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Exposure Therapy
  • Mindfulness Practices

Beyond the Office

When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me in my garden—my personal form of therapy. My love for plants extends to the office space at Be Well Together, where you'll see plenty of green, growing things creating a peaceful atmosphere. I'm a firm believer in the connection between physical and mental health, incorporating exercise and nutrition into my daily life.

Family time is precious to me, whether traveling to visit relatives or spending quality moments with my husband and children. And yes, I'm an unabashed fan of "Friends" and "Gilmore Girls," usually with a cup of coffee in hand (you'll probably see me with one when we meet!).

I am currently accepting new clients. I look forward to meeting you!

Benefits of Certified Dog-Assisted Therapy

  • Increased production of the mood-boosting hormone oxytocin
  • Decreased levels of the stress hormone cortisol
  • Enhanced trust-building
  • Improved social interactions
  • And many more...

When my mom told me about Be Well Together and said I would meet new people who would give me belly rubs and cuddles ALL DAY LONG, I got so excited! While it does take me away from watching the squirrels chase each other in my front yard, I cannot wait to meet you.

My life started off a bit rocky. Until I met my forever family, I wasn't sure who I was, and I had to figure things out on my own when I was just six months old. A group of kind construction workers began caring for me daily, and that's when I first started to feel like I belonged. Though I got into a bit of a situation and had puppies when I was still quite young myself, everything changed when I was adopted at the age of one. I've now been with my forever family for over four years, and I couldn't be happier.

Rescue dogs make wonderful therapy dogs. The rescue thinks I'm a lab/beagle mix, which explains why I LOVE people! What makes me a good therapy dog is my loyalty, obedience, and attentiveness to others' needs. When my owners are emotionally upset or hurting, I naturally come to their aid. While I may not always know exactly how to help, I know how to "be right there" for them. Being a therapy dog for you will bring me joy as I sit and "listen" while you share about your life. My owner knows my cues, and we work well together in this role.

A Note About Comfort and Safety

Therapy dogs aren't for everyone, and that's completely OK! While I'll be coming to work with my mom frequently, I understand if you're not comfortable with having a therapy dog in session or if you have allergies. Just let our staff know ahead of time, and I'll stay home that day (don't worry about me—I have plenty of squirrels and bunnies to watch from my window!).
